Channing Tatum has done many things in his movie career , but it’s probably fair to say that nothing has had quite as much of a cultural impact as Magic Mike . The first Magic Mike film was released in 2012 and starred Channing as Mike Lane, a stripper trying to make ends meet in Florida. The movie — which was partly based on Channing’s own experience as a stripper in Tampa at 18 years old — was a huge success, grossing over $167 million worldwide off of a $7 million budget.

As a result, two sequels followed: Magic Mike XXL in 2015 and Magic Mike’s Last Dance in 2023. Today, Magic Mike is more than just a movie series; it’s an entire empire thanks to Magic Mike Live , the full-scale, real-life show experience that opened in Las Vegas in 2017 and in London a year later. Bloomberg reported in 2023 that the Magic Mike franchise was worth $125 million.

But despite Magic Mike 's mega success, Channing recently admitted that he dreads the day his 11-year-old daughter, Everly, is introduced to that era of his career. Channing shares Everly with his ex-wife, Jenna Dewan. They separated in 2018 and are still embroiled in a divorce battle .

Appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Thursday, the 44-year-old opened up about his and Everly’s trip to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Los Angeles last August , admitting that he “was dancing like [he’d] never danced before.” In light of Channing’s famed history as a dancer, the host didn’t take long to poke fun at his comment. “That’s a lot coming from you,” Seth responded.

Channing quickly clarified that his Eras Tour moves didn’t incorporate any Magic Mike choreography. “There was zero of that,” he said, adding that he’s “grateful” that Everly is yet to discover what he’s truly capable of on the dancefloor. At this point, Seth warned that it’s only a matter of time before Everly learns about Magic Mike .

“It’s gonna happen, and it’s not gonna happen because you show her,” he said, prompting Channing to say, “It’s gonna be horrifying” when that day eventually comes. “It’s gonna be like a reverse of, like, she’s gonna be the parent the first time she sees Magic Mike ,” Seth teased as Channing burst into laughter. “You’re going to come home, and she’s like going to flip on a lamp and be like, ‘We need to talk.

’” Of course, Magic Mike isn’t the only dance film in Channing’s filmography — he and Everly’s mom famously met while shooting Step Up . However, Jenna revealed last year that their daughter was “completely uninterested” when she watched the 2006 hit movie for the first time. “She was like, ‘Can we watch something good?’” Jenna revealed to Us Weekly .
