Ladies and gentleman, the most coveted position in fashion has just been filled! In a surprising turn of events, Chanel recently announced the appointment of Matthieu Blazy as its new artistic director, marking a significant new chapter for both the designer and the iconic label. After months of speculation, The French luxury house confirmed the news on December 12, with Blazy set to join the brand in 2025. Previously working as the creative director at Bottega Veneta, Blazy will be responsible for overseeing Chanel's haute couture, ready-to-wear, and accessories collections.

As per reports, he will directly report to Bruno Pavlovsky, the president of fashion and Chanel SAS. Matthieu Blazy to replace Virginie Viard as artistic director at Chanel Blazy's move comes months after the departure of Virginie Viard in June 2024 after a mixed five-year tenure. Blazy is only the fourth official creative director in Chanel’s 114-year history, joining the ranks of Coco Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, and Virginie Viard.

As per reports, the designer’s contract with Chanel is being seen as a long-term commitment, with the brand expressing hopes of working with Blazy for many years to come. Blazy is set to join Chanel in the first half of 2025, likely in April, and his first collection for the house is scheduled to debut in October. Of course, Blazy isn't new to the world of high-end fashion.

Before his appointment at Bottega Veneta in late 2021, Blazy’s career included stints with high-prof.
