Starring Karthik Aaryan, ‘Chandu Champion’ explores various phases of Petkar’s life, from his youth when he runs away from home and joins the Indian Army Corps of EME, and suffers a grievous injury that renders him paraplegic in the Indo-Pakistan war of 1965, to bagging a Gold Medal in the 1972 Summer Paralympics to his quest to receive a Padma Shri and a formal acknowledgment from the government of his achievements after years of negligence. The movie hit the theatres on June 14 and opened to rave reviews from the critics. Aaryan in particular was inundated with praises for a tour-de-force performance as a man who was let down by life but refused to give up.
