Thursday, August 29, 2024 Fig Factor Media, in collaboration with the College Park Aviation Museum, will host the fourth annual Latinas in Aviation Global Festival on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 10 a.m.
to 4 p.m. at the museum located at 1985 Corporal Frank Scott Drive in College Park, Maryland.
Timed to coincide with the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, this family-friendly event will highlight Latina pioneers and authors as they share their personal stories with the audience. The festival will include cultural celebrations featuring demonstrations, children’s activities, community art projects, an author meet-and-greet session, giveaways, and live performances by Sol y Rumba Band and Sol y Mariachi. Admission to the event is free.
The festival will also see the launch of “Latinas in Aviation Vol. IV” by Fig Factor Media, a series that documents the inspiring journeys of resilient women making their mark in the global aviation industry. This latest volume will spotlight 25 women, including pilots, aviation students, dispatchers, and administrators, who continue to inspire and encourage others aspiring to enter the industry.
Jacqueline S. Ruiz, the creator of “Latinas in Aviation,” is eager to welcome and showcase these women as part of the sisterhood of authors. This book series has given wings to these women to explore and embrace the endless possibilities that have positively infused their lives,” said Ruiz.
