Saturday, August 17, 2024 Cebu Pacific boosts tourism by launching new routes from Davao to Hong Kong and Iloilo to Singapore, enhancing international travel from Visayas and Mindanao. Philippine carrier Cebu Pacific is set to significantly enhance international travel options from the Visayas and Mindanao regions by launching two new routes later this year, which is expected to boost tourism and leisure travel. Beginning on October 27, Cebu Pacific will introduce four weekly flights between Davao and Hong Kong, with services scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

In addition, the airline will commence thrice-weekly flights between Iloilo and Singapore starting November 25, operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Cebu Pacific, officially known as Cebu Air, Inc., has been a pioneer in the low-cost airline sector in Asia since its establishment in 1988.

Headquartered in Pasay, Metro Manila, the airline is recognized as the Philippines’ largest and most prominent carrier, offering an extensive range of both domestic and international flights. Cebu Pacific operates from five key hubs across the country: Cebu, Clark, Davao, Iloilo, and its primary hub in Manila. Renowned for its budget-friendly fares and comprehensive destination network, Cebu Pacific has established itself as the leading airline in the Philippines, surpassing its main competitor, Philippine Airlines (PAL), in terms of passenger numbers in 2010.

Data from the Civil Aeronautics Board highlighted that Cebu Pacific transported 2.45 million passengers in the first quarter of 2010, outperforming PAL, which carried 2.34 million passengers during the same period.

However, Cebu Pacific has faced criticism over the years for frequent flight delays, cancellations, and concerns about the quality of service provided to passengers. Despite these challenges, the airline continues to expand its reach, currently serving 37 domestic and 27 international destinations across 15 countries. With the introduction of these new routes, Cebu Pacific is not only making international travel more accessible for travelers from Davao and Iloilo but also boosting tourism and leisure travel opportunities in these regions.

The increased connectivity is expected to attract more tourists to explore the rich cultural and natural attractions of both Hong Kong and Singapore, thereby contributing to the growth of the tourism sector and providing a significant boost to the local economies..
