DETROIT LAKES — News faces and old ones are returning to the Detroit Lakes City Council. Craig Caulfield came out on top in commanding fashion against Lindsey Cooksey and won his first term on the Detroit Lakes City Council in the at large race. Caulfield will represent the entire city of Detroit Lakes.

ADVERTISEMENT Caulfield took home 3,065 votes to Cooksey’s 1,656, or 64.69% to 34.95%, respectively.



The at large seat was previously held by Aaron Dallmann, who left the seat to run in Ward 3 against incumbent Dan Josephson, who was seeking a third term on the council. In that race, Dallmann was the winner with 903 votes to Josephson’s 708, or 55.78% to 43.

73%. In Ward 2, Wendy Spry narrowly secured a second term on the City Council. Spry earned 605 votes and was challenged by Amber Abraham, who earned 554 votes, and Marga Ybarra, who finished with 437.

In Ward 1, incumbent council member Ron Zeman cruised to victory in his uncontested race, earning 98.44% of the vote with 1,138 votes. Incumbent Mayor Matt Brenk also secured another term in his uncontested race, earning 96.
