Wednesday, August 14, 2024 Castle Durrow and County Laois are set to be showcased across Britain as the new series Country House Auction debuts on More4 this evening (13 August). This four-part series, supported by Tourism Ireland and Northern Ireland Screen, delves into the fascinating world of fine and extraordinary antiques, following their journey as they are restored, appraised, and ultimately auctioned at the Country House Auction. Last year’s auction, organized by the esteemed Sheppard’s Irish Auction House of The Square in Durrow, took place in the magnificent 18th-century Castle Durrow.
Viewers will get a glimpse of castle owners Tessa and Robin Leidig as they prepare their 300-year-old home to host the auction. The event brings together buyers, sellers, historical homeowners, and avid auction enthusiasts, all eager to see rare antiques go up for bidding. The series also captures the stunning landscapes of County Laois, with Castle Durrow and Sheppard’s as central highlights.
Additional locations featured include Swifte’s Heath and Burnchurch House in County Kilkenny, Limerick Museum, and Gloster House in County Offaly.
