Prayagraj: Three police teams have been formed to probe the incident wherein a woman was forcibly dragged and taken by her husband and his supporters to Aurai from Poore Gobai village under the limits of Handia police station in the trans-Ganga pocket of Prayagraj district on August 17. The brother of the victim, Sunil Kumar, has lodged an FIR against his brother-in-law Mukesh Kumar and others, alleging that Mukesh, along with his armed supporters, arrived at his house in Poore Gobai village, thrashed and dragged his sister, and forcibly took her to his native house. A video of the dragging woman and armed people accompanying the accused also went viral on social media in the same regard.

Sunil told police that his brother-in-law has been harassing his sister for dowry for the past two years. On Saturday, he, along with his armed relatives and supporters, had dragged and taken his sister back to his home. He also told police that his sister had arrived at her parental house on August 15, and once she narrated her woes, they advised her not to go to her husband’s house.



Police said that the woman was married to Mukesh Kumar in 2020, and it was victim’s second marriage after the death of her first husband.
