Pune: The Ravet police are searching for a couple and their accomplice, who duped five flat owners , collectively of Rs 16.40 lakh on the promise of doing interior and furniture works in their flats. The couple and their accomplice collected money from the victims between Oct and Nov 2023 and did not do any work as promised, police said.
A 38-year-old resident of Punawale lodged a complaint with the Ravet police on Tuesday. An officer from the Ravet police told TOI that in Oct last year, the couple approached the complainant and four others for the interior and furniture work in their flats. ""Between October and November last year, the five victims collectively paid Rs 16.
40 lakh to the couple," the officer said. The officer said that the couple and their accomplice, however, did not do any work as promised. "After waiting for almost a year, when the suspects did not return their money, the victims approached the police and lodged a complaint," he said.
The officer said that a case under Section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against them..
