Friday, October 18, 2024 Casa Munras Garden Hotel & Spa recently marked a remarkable milestone, celebrating 200 years of hospitality on Saturday, September 21, 2024. The event drew over 250 guests, including locals, visitors, and dignitaries, as they came together to honor the rich heritage of Casa Munras, a cornerstone of Monterey’s vibrant history. The occasion was filled with lively entertainment, from classical Spanish guitar and bolero music to captivating flamenco performances.

Culinary demonstrations and a diverse spread of delicious food and beverages added to the celebratory atmosphere, all expertly crafted by the team at Estéban Restaurant. Casa Munras Garden Hotel & Spa holds a special place in Monterey’s past, tracing its origins back to 1824 when Don Estéban Munras, a Spanish diplomat, artist, and businessman, constructed his grand hacienda-style adobe. His legacy of warmth and hospitality set the foundation for what would become one of Monterey’s most iconic destinations.



Over the years, Casa Munras has continued to welcome travelers and locals alike, maintaining its role as a gathering spot while evolving to meet the needs of the times. In 1941, the property transitioned into the hands of P.J.

Dougherty, Monterey’s former mayor and postmaster general, following the sale by Maria Antonia Field, the last of the Munras family. Dougherty transformed the historic house and its surroundings into the Casa Munras Garden Hotel, ushering in a new era for the .
