com/W0RQ62rTsY — Cartoon Network (@cartoonnetwork) June 26, 2024 The closure of CartoonNetwork.com appears to be a side effect of streaming wars between online portals. This move mirrors similar actions by other media giants; for instance, Paramount Global recently shuttered the websites for Comedy Central, MTV News, and CMT, and also discontinued the preschool-oriented channel Noggin in February this year.

The Cartoon Network website first launched in July 1998, six years after the cable network made its debut in October 1992. It even had a presence on AOL as early as 1996. Last month, rumors circulated on social media that Cartoon Network itself was shutting down, causing a wave of concern and leading to the hashtag #RIPCartoonNetwork trending.

However, it was later clarified that while the website was going offline, the channel itself was not closing. ALSO SEE: RIP Cartoon Network: Rumours Of Channel Shutting Down Circulates Again, Here's What Happened.
