Friday, October 18, 2024 Carriacou unveiled its first-ever Underwater Sculpture Park, marking a significant milestone in the island’s tourism development and environmental sustainability efforts. This innovative project, initially laid in July 2023, is not only expected to attract tourists from around the world but also bolster local employment and help protect the island’s fragile marine ecosystems. The sculpture park has been designed with an emphasis on environmental stewardship, aiming to balance the demands of tourism with the need for climate resilience.

The grand unveiling of the Underwater Sculpture Park was a significant event attended by notable dignitaries, including Tevin Andrews, the Minister of Local Affairs for Carriacou and Petite Martinique, and Alison Keaton, the Director of Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA). Alison Keaton, in her inaugural address, highlighted how the park is crucial to promoting climate resilience and safeguarding the island from adverse climatic changes. She noted that the sculptures would draw visitors from far and wide, showcasing Grenada as a leader in environmental tourism and climate-conscious initiatives.



Minister Tevin Andrews, one of the key drivers of this project, expressed his gratitude to all those who made the park a reality. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives for the island, not only for the tourism economy but also in fostering a stronger, more resilient community in the face of challenges like climate chang.
