My bum has dropped. I'm at the upper end of my weight.

'I haven't been to the gym for months because of the book and because I've also had a knee issue which has been giving me problems.' Explaining her injury, she added: 'Basically, the oil around the joints went, so I've had two hyaluronic acid injections. The first one didn't work but the second one did.

' On how she stays in shape, she said: 'I wear a good bra and jeans that hold you up. I generally have one meal a day - late afternoon - and I do three 45-minute sessions in the gym a week, which I love. Lots of squats for the bum.

' Despite being unhappy with her body at present, Carol insisted she 'doesn't give a toss' about what people say about her looks as she shared the secret to her age-defying physique. When it comes to other's opinions on her appearance she declared: 'I don't give a toss about what people say about how I look'. 'I'm also old enough to not care about what anyone else thinks about me'.

Intermittent fasting is a type of time-restricted diet in which fasters leave a long gap between their last meal of one day and first of the next. But despite the body confidence dip, when asked how she stays looking as good as she does, Carol revealed her rather obscure secret - snacking on raw Brussels sprouts The former Countdown star is no stranger to showcasing her jaw-dropping figure in sexy outfits and says it's all thanks to a 'good bra and sprouts' Research shows that intermittent fasting is a way to manage weight and improve over all health. Carol also previously revealed that she was a big fan of detoxing twice a year which reduces inflammation, purifies your blood, boosts your blood circulation and helps with weight loss.

Carol wrote in her book, Detox Your Life, that she never counts calories and she embarks on a detox health kick twice a year. She wrote: 'The detox is not about counting calories or fat units, it's about being aware of the kinds of foods we put into our bodies. It's about eating more, not less'.

She recently revealed that she hasn't weighed herself in 24 years and shared the secret to her incredible figure. Carol said she did a 28-day detox diet back in 1999 after 'putting on a bit of weight' and admitted she hasn't got back on the scales since then . She revealed that she won't let doctors tell her what she weighs when she has a medical as she shared an insight into her diet, admitting she doesn't cook at home.

Speaking on the Table Manners podcast, Carol explained: 'Go back to my thirties, and my husband Paddy who I loved and adored, we loved pasta and all of that, but I was working really hard and I just got to the point where I was eating just to stay alive, stay awake. Carol explained how she fasts intermittently and carries the raw veg around in her handbag to snack on during the day 'And I put on a bit of weight and I didn't like that. So I started this detox diet.

It was slated by nutritionists at the time because it was 28 days detox diet. No meat, no wheat, no dairy, no sugar, for 28 days. 'Then it was all 'no, you can't do that'.

Now it's like standard. This was for 28 days to sort of give all your organs a way of naturally detoxing. '(I was) super high on veggies, not potatoes.

I won't buy normal potatoes because of the detox - changed everything I bought. 'After the detox diet, I haven't weighed myself since 1999 - don't know what I weigh. I won't let anyone tell me what I weigh - you know when you go for medicals.

And by and large, when I'm home, I eat quite well. 'But if somebody's bought me chocolates or whatever it might be, I'll just find I'll just eat them before I'll go to the vegetables so I can't have it in the house. 'I'm very happy - that's all I've known for 20 years.
