Carol Kirkwood, the beloved BBC weather presenter, has given fans a glimpse into her personal life, discussing how her "perfect wedding day" nearly didn't go as planned. At 62, Carol celebrated her second marriage to police officer Steve Randal in December, marking a strong seven-year relationship since they first met. During Tuesday's episode of The BBC show, with Tom Allen and hosts Alex Jones and Anita Rani, Carol not only talked about her latest novel Once Upon a Time in Venice but also shared details about her romantic life.
Anita initiated the conversation by remarking, "You've given us a reason to put down our phones. You have a new novel set in Venice with three women in one of the world's most romantic places." Carol enthused, "First of all I love Venice because it has everything.
It's so romantic, it's got history, art, culture and little alleyways as well and when you walk down you can get lost in it and there are no street lights so it's great for hiding little secrets.", reports the Express . When the topic shifted to her own romance, Alex commented, "Your real life Carol has been quite romantic since we last met.
You got married in December, you say the weather wasn't on your side, which is terrible when you're booking a wedding but you looked super happy and super beautiful." Inquiring further, she asked, "So how is it? " to which Carol joyfully responded, "It's going fabulously and I couldn't be happier." "It was the perfect day, it was a small intimate wedding, it was beautiful and very romantic.
" Opening up about a near-disaster on her big day, she said: "There was a storm, can you believe it - Storm Gerrit. We booked it, obviously it was a bit in advance and we didn't know there was going to be a storm." She went on to say: "I was watching it in the lead up to the wedding and I was thinking 'no' but on the actual day we didn't even notice.
" Adding to the conversation, Alex said: "They say rain on the ring is good luck apparently." A surprised Carol responded: "Oh is it, I'll take that." Tom interjected: "I've never heard that before.
" The comment prompted laughter all round when Alex joked: "Well I must have made it up." Looking at Carol, Tom said: "Well never heard that before but it'll be a lovely title for your next book.".
