Tuesday, January 28, 2025 Carnival Cruise Line is introducing a more stringent policy for cabin bookings involving minors, set to take effect for reservations made on or after February 1, 2025. Under the revised guidelines, children aged 14 and under must now share a cabin with a relative or guardian aged 25 or older, or they must stay in a connecting cabin. This marks a shift from the previous rule, which allowed minors aged 12 and under to occupy a cabin either next door or directly across the hall.
Teenagers between the ages of 15 and 17 can continue staying up to three staterooms away from their designated relative or guardian, as long as the guardian is at least 25 years old. To ensure proper oversight, Carnival now requires all bookings for these passengers to be linked and cross-referenced in the reservation system, confirming they are traveling with an eligible guardian. For guests aged 18 to 20, the existing policy remains in place.
While they are permitted to stay in any cabin, their reservation must still be connected to a guardian or relative who meets the minimum age requirement of 25. A significant change in Carnival Cruise Line’s policy requires that all travelers under the age of 21 must have their cabin assigned at the time of booking. The cruise line will no longer permit “to be announced” (TBA) arrangements for accommodations.
The existing rule that guests must be at least 21 years old to book a cruise independently remains in place. However, exceptio.
