Sunday, September 15, 2024 Caribbean Tourism Organization appoints Narendra Ramgulam to lead sustainable travel initiatives, driving environmental conservation and resilient economic growth region-wide. The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) has named Narendra Ramgulam from Trinidad and Tobago as its new Sustainable Tourism Consultant. With extensive experience and expertise, Ramgulam will focus on advancing sustainable tourism practices throughout the Caribbean.

As a leading regional tourism agency, the CTO remains dedicated to fostering sustainable tourism that benefits the Caribbean economically and socially. Ramgulam’s appointment reflects the CTO’s ongoing mission to build a more sustainable and resilient tourism industry. His knowledge in sustainable tourism, combined with his passion for the region, will be vital in spearheading efforts to promote responsible and eco-friendly tourism.



Previously, Ramgulam was the Director of Tourism Product Development & Destination Management at the Tobago Tourism Agency Limited, where his efforts garnered sustainability awards and enhanced safety measures during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also served as Postgraduate Coordinator and Lecturer at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus.

The CTO leader is eager to advance the organization’s sustainability agenda, stating: “With Narendra’s impressive track record and deep expertise, we are confident he will play a key role in driving sustainable tourism practices throughout the Caribbean. We are excited to tap into his knowledge and guide our member countries toward a more resilient and sustainable tourism sector.” Ramgulam is a prolific researcher, with 13 publications in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters.

He is also a frequent participant in tourism conferences, where he shares insights on sustainable tourism, tourism anthropology, product development, and economic diversification..
