Cardiff is the coffee capital of the UK, research has found. A poll of 2,000 adults discovered natives of the South Wales city consume more coffee than anywhere else. Those in the Welsh capital will drink more than three cups a day, sinking more than 20 per week.

Instant coffee was enjoyed most in Cymru (Wales), with Liverpool the biggest lovers of a cappuccino – the most favoured drink by all respondents. Londoners however were found to prefer a Latte. A spokesperson for Alpro Barista, which will be giving out free coffees in Manchester and London between 28th-29th September and 5th-6th October respectively, said: “It's fascinating to see the variety of coffee preferences across different cities.



“And it was particularly interesting to see the cappuccino come out on top as the favourite – beating the classics like a flat white and a latte.” Those in Southampton were found to be the early risers with most brewing themselves a coffee as early as 8:06am on average. While Londoners were the most likely to opt for a cow’s milk alternative for their beverage - oat being most popular.

Over two thirds struggle to imagine going a whole day without having a coffee, as three quarters regard it as a key part of their daily routine, and 38% claim their first cup sets them up for the day. When preparing their drink at home it emerged it took an average four minutes and 22 seconds to do so. According to the OnePoll.

com data, 49% make theirs quickly and go – but one in five ha.
