Canyon Ranch When it comes to your health, all modalities are on the table here. But gourmet food and drink wasn’t there to join it—until recently. Traditionally the food has been fashioned more in service of calorie-counting than flavor formation.
And cocktails were entirely out of the question because alcohol was prohibited. Things started to change last year when Mark Rivers came on board as CEO. His primary mission has been to evolve the experience at the resorts to correspond with the desires of contemporary clientele.
Many of them, it turns out, are compelled by inspired F+B. “Elevated culinary experiences is a key focus,” he admits. “In Lenox, we’ve just completed our second Great Lawn Supper Series this year.

Petrossian Caviar paired its renowned product alongside champagne for a special winter engagement. And El Tesoro now has its own tequila education bar at the Tucson property and will be holding special tastings led by spirits experts in Lenox.
“We also created the charming Javelina Cantina, an outdoor patio bar,” explains Rivers. “This was our first formal foray into serving alcohol on our properties and the reception has been superb. Our guests are loving a social hub under the Sonoran Desert sky.

Canyon Ranch And while cooking classes were hardly a new concept at either property, they have typically been rather routine affairs: straightforward “how-tos” on healthy-eating.
Starting this fall and into 2025, they will expand to include some of the top culinary talent in the country. “In Tucson, our first Canyon Ranch Cooking School will feature Instagram sensation Lindsay Keosayian, who is a wellness phenomenon herself,” says Rivers of the new program. “And in Lenox, Gail Simmons from Top Chef is our first guest.
” With all this food and beverage-focused innovation, Canyon Ranch is by no means resting on its laurels when it comes to wellness, either. This November its launching Longevity8, a custom-curated four day regimen in which guests undergo a comprehensive evaluation—incorporating eight principles of wellness—to help extend lifespan and health span. Those principles include integrative medicine, nutrition, sleep, spiritual wellness, mental and emotional health, outdoor activity, flexibility and fitness, and strength and endurance.

In November, the Tucson property welcomes Alanis Morissette, who will host a mental health and healing retreat that she personally curated. “She is an inspired advocate for personal wholeness and healing and this is the first of its kind,” Rivers says of the 7-time Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter. Gone are the days that Canyon Ranch is seen as some sort of fancy detox retreat for jetsetters.
