Pune: In the final leg of campaigns before the voting day, candidates across party lines in city have intensified foot rallies and home visits to reach as many voters as possible. Most candidates held foot rallies almost every day to extend their reach. The campaign planners of these candidates said the foot rallies and home visits would continue for the next week, along with meetings with various local forums as planned.
Intense fights are likely in some seats in Pune, where Mahayuti is looking to retain seven out of eight seats, while MVA is confident of winning Kasba Peth and snatching at least a few seats from Mahayuti. Over 300 candidates are in the fray from 21 constituencies in the Pune district. A BJP functionary said a meeting was held recently to review the status of all the seats in Pune.
The campaigns are being intensified in constituencies like Kasba Peth, Pune Cantonment, Shivajinagar and Khadakwasla, where the BJP won with a small margin in the 2019 polls. The Congress cadre, on the other hand, is expecting the state leaders to join the campaign in Pune for MVA candidates. While, PM Modi's rally is scheduled for Tuesday, MVA leaders including Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray are likely to address gatherings next week in Pune.
