Wednesday, August 28, 2024 The Minister of Transport, Pablo Rodriguez, has announced several key appointments and reappointments across various organizations within Canada’s transportation sector. These appointments reflect the government’s commitment to ensuring safety, efficiency, and growth in the transportation industry, which impacts businesses, passengers, and tourists across the country. The Atlantic Pilotage Authority, responsible for managing marine pilotage services in the Atlantic provinces, has a new Chairperson.

John Patrick McCann from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, has been appointed to this role for a term ending on May 2, 2029. In New Brunswick, the Belledune Port Authority, which operates autonomously from the federal government, has seen the reappointment of three board members. Lucien Sonier from Caraquet, Iris Auclair-Bernard from Heron Bay, and Joseph Lorio Roy from Moncton will continue to serve on the board with terms ending in 2026 and 2027.



Llewellyn James Holloway from St. Catharines, Ontario, has been reappointed as a Canadian board member for the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority, overseeing the Peace Bridge that connects Canada and the United States. His term will continue until June 2, 2028.

Sharon Ruth Duggan from Bay Bulls, Newfoundland and Labrador, has been reappointed as a board member for CATSA, the Crown corporation responsible for the security screening of air travelers and their baggage, with her term ending on June 4, 2028. The Laurentian Pilotage Authority, which oversees marine pilotage in the St. Lawrence and Saguenay rivers, welcomes two new board members.

Georges Farrah from Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Quebec, and Jean Aubry-Morin from South Glengarry, Ontario, have been appointed with terms ending on June 20, 2028. The Montreal Port Authority, a key player in Canada’s maritime sector, has reappointed four board members. Hélène Lauzon, Nathalie Pilon, Johanne M.

Lépine, and John Edward Parisella, all from Montreal, Quebec, will continue to serve with terms ending in 2025 and 2026. In Ottawa, Bonnie Boretsky has been reappointed, and Sylvain Laporte from Chelsea, Quebec, has been newly appointed as board members of the Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport Authority. Their terms will extend until the 2027 and 2026 Annual General Meetings, respectively.

Roderick Graham from Calgary, Alberta, has been appointed as a board member for the Prince Rupert Port Authority, a crucial trade gateway on British Columbia’s northern coast, with a term ending on June 16, 2027. The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited, responsible for managing international bridges in Ontario, has reappointed Marie-Jacqueline Saint-Fleur from Montreal, Quebec, Andrew Travis Seymour from Cornwall, Ontario, and Rakesh Shreewastav from Toronto, Ontario, as board members for terms ending on June 4, 2028. The Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada, which reviews and appeals decisions from the Minister of Transport and the Canadian Transportation Agency, has appointed four new part-time members.

K. M. Tracy Medve from Kelowna, British Columbia, Franco Pietracupa from Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec, Steven Donald Gerard Neatt from Quebec City, Quebec, and Martine Patricia Guay from Longueuil, Quebec, will serve until May 2028 and May 2029.

VIA Rail Canada Inc., which operates the nation’s passenger rail services, has appointed Filipe Dinis from Ottawa, Ontario, and Catherine Kloepfer from Winnipeg, Manitoba, as new board members. Additionally, H.

Glenn Rainbird from Belleville, Ontario, has been reappointed, with all terms set to conclude between 2027 and 2028.
