The Campbell River Art Gallery (CRAG) will celebrate its presence in the community with pearls and prosecco on Oct. 19. "The 2022 Art Gala was such a blast," says Sara Lopez Assu, the gallery's executive director.

"It really brought out Campbell River's finest — great fashion, beautiful art, delicious food, amazing community support...

We have an even better event planned for this year, and I can't wait." A formal affair inspired by the Roaring 20s and the Great Gatsby, the event starts at 6 p.m.

and is at the Maritime Heritage Centre. Money raised by the event will go into supporting the gallery's public and youth programs, exhibitions, and working artists. Lime Soda Photography, acting as paparazzi, will take photos of guests as they walk down the red carpet flanked by vintage cars from the North Island Cruisers.

There will also be a live art auction featuring work from Bill and William Henderson, David Ellignsen, Scott Bertram, Sonny Assu and more. "The thrill and excitement of the live art event, the silent auction, and the competitive bidding are almost a match for the selection of amazing art for sale, almost. When a community has so many renowned artists who participate to show their support for art and culture, the artwork and fine craft on offer is off the charts," says Jenelle Pasiechnik, the gallery's curator.

Appetizers, dinner, and desserts will be served, as will craft cocktails and mocktails. A four-piece band called Typsy Jazz will be performing. Tickets are available for purchase at the CRAG’s website: www.
