Saturday, November 30, 2024 A representative announced on Thursday that Cambodia welcomed a total of 733,729 air travelers between the kingdom and China in the first 10 months of 2024, marking an 83% increase compared to the same period last year. Cambodia has seen a remarkable surge in air traffic between the kingdom and China, with a total of 733,729 passengers recorded in the first 10 months of 2024. This marks an impressive 83% year-on-year growth, highlighting the increasing demand for travel between the two destinations.

The significant uptick in air passenger numbers reflects a broader trend of heightened connectivity and growing tourism interest, particularly in the context of Cambodia’s expanding role as a regional travel hub. In addition to passenger growth, air cargo traffic between Cambodia and China has also experienced a notable rise. During the same period, a total of 6,341 tons of air freight were transported, representing a 38% increase compared to the previous year.

This uptick in cargo volume underscores the strengthening of commercial and logistical ties between the two nations, as businesses increasingly rely on air transport for goods and supplies. A key factor behind the growth in air traffic is the opening of the Chinese-invested Siem Reap Angkor International Airport, which began operations in November 2023. The new airport is expected to further enhance Cambodia’s appeal as a destination for international airlines, especially those from China.
