The Cadillac Sollei is the American drop top dream that we wish comes true in reality. American cars from the 50’s and 60’s were from another planet. They were large and had beautiful flowing lines harking back to times where form took over function and practicality.
The Cadillac Sollei concept follows the same ethos. It reminds me of the Cadillac and American cars of the old, which had long sweeping bonnets and stunning silhouettes. The Sollei is presented with Manila Cream Yellow paint, and a similar wooden and yellow theme carries over to the interiors as well.
Apt is the name of the Sollei which is derived from “sol” which means sun and “lei” is derived from leisure. The luxury drop top is based on the Celestic electric concept which was a sedan or if you go by its size, a limousine. It gets 23-inch chrome wheels and beautifully crafted LED lights all around the vehicle.
The Interior Features A 55-inch Touch Screen On the inside, there is a 55-inch piece of glass adorning the dashboard with two screens. There is a fridge in the centre with a glass door which opens to reveal the bespoke crystal decanter and glasses. Cadillac also included something for bird enthusiasts and it gets a custom brushed metal, wrapped with leather case which houses 3-d printed acrylic bird calls and a leather bound journal with hand painted birds and space for bird-watches to keep their pens and pencils.
The Sollei is a crazy concept to exist today, there is no practicality involved with the vehicle but it is not made with practicality in mind but to be the most exclusive, most luxurious and most beautiful looking thing to be driven on our roads. It signifies what automotive design stands for and helps us imagine a future where we escape from the current mundane looking blob-like cars and drive around in beautiful looking art pieces..
