An award-winning butchers which has been established for over 40 years is bringing Harrods quality to the county. The Country Victualler, and it’s parent company Maloney’s, have been established in Tuxford for over 40 years, supplying both the community and London’s prestigious foodhalls with everything from hams to the ‘Nottinghamshire sausage’. Premium butcher and baker The Country Victualler was founded in 1973 by Richard Craven-Smith-Milnes and his wife, and after his retirement over ten years ago was taken on by Maloney’s, a Nottinghamshire based butchers founded by Mike Maloney in 1979.
Now, Mike’s daughter Alison is at the helm of the business — which has both an online shop and a pod store at it’s premises on Ashvale Road, Tuxford. It is currently approaching a busy Christmas period during which it will supply top-quality hams for Harrod’s Foodhall Christmas range. Alison said: “The Country Victualler had already supplied Harrods before, and they approached us again this year to design a range of hams for their Christmas line and hampers.
“We’ve been working with them since summer.” The artisan butchers has also supplied it’s produce to Fortnum and Mason, Partridges of Sloane Street, and even Wimbledon. Customers won’t have to travel to London to get their fix of luxury Christmas meats and other produce, however, as the pod and online shop offers a range of Christmas poultry, hams and accompaniments.
