Tuesday, July 16, 2024 During a recent meeting of the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority (BGPAA), Glendale Commissioner Ara Najarian was elected to serve as President for the next year. This Authority, a joint venture among the cities of Burbank, Glendale, and Pasadena, is responsible for the ownership and operation of Hollywood Burbank Airport. Each city appoints three commissioners to the nine-member board, with commissioners serving four-year terms.

Ara Najarian, who has been part of the BGPAA Commission since 2020, brings a wealth of experience in local governance. He has been a member of the Glendale City Council since 2005 and has served as Mayor three times. Najarian’s background also includes a stint on the Board of Trustees at Glendale Community College and a long-term position on the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority Board since 2006.



The BGPAA Commission conducts its officer elections annually in July. This year, the board also selected Burbank Commissioner Jess Talamantes as Vice President, Pasadena Commissioner Tyron Hampton as Secretary and Treasurer, and Pasadena Commissioner Andy Wilson as Auditor. The commission’s other members include Emily Gabel-Luddy and Robert “Bud” Ovrom from Burbank; Frank Quintero and Elen Asatryan from Glendale; and Felicia Williams from Pasadena.

The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority was established in 1977 as a joint powers agency to manage the Hollywood Burbank Airport. This collaboration between the three cities aims to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the airport, pivotal to the region’s transportation infrastructure..
