The government have signed off on a €250 energy credit for all households in the coming months. Budget 2025 is set to be announced next week, and the government are in final deliberations over the measures they plan to roll out. However, it has been confirmed that the energy credits seen in the last few budgets will make a comeback.

This is significantly lower than the €450 energy credits that were paid out in three lump sums as part of last year’s budget or the €600 credits paid out in a similar fashion in as part of budget 2023. It comes as Finance Minister Jack Chambers claimed earlier this month that the cost of living package will not be as big as previous years.



He said: “We have agreed there will be a cost of living package as part of Budget 2025. We’ve seen inflation moderate to about just over one per cent but there are still high prices in our economy – particularly in energy. “We know that people are still feeling the pinch of high prices more generally so that’s why we’re taking into account the inflationary environment we’re in as it’s moderated and I don’t believe the cost of living packag.
