Brussels Airport has revealed that it will be introducing a self-driving, electric shuttle bus to its facility as it trials this new project as part of its sustainability developments. The new shuttle buses will transport airport staff along a fixed route during its trial period which will last three months. Eight employees per ride Inevitably, during the trial period, the shuttle will not operate completely autonomously, although that is the ultimate aim should it be a success.
Every ride will be accompanied by a steward who will intervene if and when necessary. In addition to the steward, a maximum of eight airport employees will be able to ride on the shuttle at any given time. The shuttle will operate in tandem with the existing buses and shuttle services on airport grounds.
