Earlier this year, British Airways announced it would return its nonstop flights from London to Bangkok on October 28, 2024. This month, it added a sweetener by revealing details of an expanded codeshare deal with Bangkok Airways, allowing seamless travel from the UK to destinations in Thailand and Cambodia. More choice for BA Travelers In January this year, British Airways announced it was returning to Bangok with a three-times weekly service from London Gatwick Airport (LGW).



The service is scheduled to depart London Gatwick as flight BA2231 on Monday, Thursday and Sunday at 21:00, and in its latest announcement, British Airways (BA) said it will increase the frequency to up to five times weekly between January and March 2025. British Airways passengers will also have more connections to choose from, with the expanded codeshare agreement opening Bangkok Airways flights to Thailand and Cambodia. BA customers will be able to connect seamlessly in Bangkok to Phuket (HKT), Koh Samui (USM) and Chiang Mai (CNX) in Thailand, as well as to Phnom Penh (PNH) and Siem Reap (SAI) in Cambodia on Bangkok Airways flights.

BA Chief Planning and Strategy Officer Neil Chernoff said that in October, the airline will be operating its first direct flight to Thailand in more than four years, so it's a highly anticipated return to BA's global network. He added: "Knowing that this route will be particularly popular with our leisure customers, we're pleased to be working with Bangkok Airways to offer more choice and make these sought-after holiday destinations more accessible." An added benefit of the codeshare is that members of British Airways' loyalty program, the Executive Club , will also earn Tier Points and collect Avios when flying on a Bangkok Airways flight on a British Airways codeshare journey.

Given that the five destinations are highly popular tourist spots, earning rewards is just an added bonus on top of the convenience of a one-stop, single-ticket trip from London Gatwick.
