Yorkshire coaster enthusiasts have been short-changed as the northern part of England has dubbed home to Britain's worst theme park. Wales's Oakwood Theme Park previously got a lashing as the "worst rated" in the UK by YouTube big shots, The Sidemen. However, fresh research has lobbed another hotspot into the unfortunate spotlight as the worst destination for fun seekers.

The bargain-hunters at LatestDeals.co.uk have sussed out the 10 worst theme parks in the country based on Tripadvisor critiques, ticket costs, and how much you shell out for each rickety ride.

Flamingo Land, tucked away in North Yorkshire, has bagged itself an unenviable rep with nearly 54 percent negative reviews on Tripadvisor, reports . Here's a rundown on Britain's least-beloved theme parks. This family joint in Malton isn't just about high-speed thrills and kiddie whirlsit's also got wildlife conservation gigs on the side.

But brace yourself; it isn't cheap. Forking out £44.50 for an adult pass, that's more than Alton Towers or Thorpe Park which start from £29.

Punters seem gutted about Flamingo Land's bang for the buck, with the average ride costing £1.27. It's mainly the sparse animal sightings, one of the park's hyped features, leaving visitors cheesed off.

One guest recently aired their grievances on Tripadvisor, ranting: "Avoid- not worth the time and effort the zoo is so run down and dirty virtually no out, rides breaking down constantly causing other rides to have huge queues." A disgruntled visitor moaned: "Spent £168 just to find the train around the site was not running and our favourite, the water flume not running, the F1 and motorcycle speed ride not running - even the monorail around the mandrills down to one garage only running resulting in long waiting times." Yet some fans of Flamingo Land leapt to the venue's defence, lauding its spick-and-span setting and the variety of rides on offer, albeit while acknowledging it wasn't easy on the purse strings.

Hot on the heels of Flamingo Land, Drusillas Park situated in Berwick, offers a mix of family-friendly funfair thrills and animal encounters. Despite a sterling 88.7 percent rate of cheery reviews, it's the heavy hit to the wallet that lowers this park's overall appeal.

With each ride costing about three quid, this spot is the priciest when it comes to cost-per-ride. Nonetheless, little troopers can have a blast with an assortment of activities from zoo adventures to play zones. Tripadvisor recently featured a gripe: "This was our first visit with our toddlers - it was a good day - they loved the splash pad, soft play and seeing some of the animals.

However, for the price, we probably wouldn't come back. £110 for four of us, out of school holidays too. When you compare that to somewhere like Peppa Pig World for example where it's much much bigger and only costs £80 I am not sure the pricing is quite right at Drusillas.

" Knockhatch Adventure Park in Hailsham also made the list, coming in third among the UK's worst theme parks. Despite drawing in crowds during peak seasons, almost 20 percent of visitors expressed their dissatisfaction on Tripadvisor.
