A woman accused of murdering her husband faces trial in November. Joanna Rowland-Stuart appeared by video link from HMP Downview and only spoke to confirm her name during a hearing at Lewes Crown Court today. The retired LGBT rights worker is accused of murdering her husband Andrew Rowland-Stuart, 70, at their flat in Lavender Street, Brighton , on May 27.
Emergency services were called to the 15th-floor flat shortly after 7.30pm. Mr Rowland-Stuart was pronounced dead at the scene.
An inquest heard he died from multiple stab wounds. Rowland-Stuart, 70, was assisted by a British Sign Language interpreter during today’s hearing, as she is deaf, and wore a grey t-shirt and was wearing a cross necklace. Another hearing has been set for September 4 at Lewes Crown Court.
A trial is still scheduled to start on November 25..
