CHARLESTON, W.Va (WV News) — Bridgeport’s Alex Moses and Tim Jeffress took a drive before the Class AAA state championship game. “We legit had a competition today,” Moses said of Jeffress after Bridgeport won its 11th title.
“We were driving back to my house, and he was like, ‘Whoever has the least touchdowns has to shave their eyebrows.’” But they didn’t set a tiebreaker. Moses finished with 141 rushing yards and two touchdowns on seven carries.
Jeffress also had two scores on 115 yards in nine carries. Bridgeport won the Class AAA state title in historic fashion, downing Herbert Hoover 49-7. “We tied,” Moses said.
“So nobody has to. I kind of wish it was him.” The Indians finished with 431 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns, both state records for a Class AAA state championship game.
Moses was named the MVP of the game, but he remained humble. “I don’t feel as if I deserve it,” Moses said. “I feel like I have teammates that came out.
I didn’t shine as bright as them. I don’t think this is a one-man thing.” Josh Love added 128 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries to make three rushers with over 100 yards for Bridgeport in the game.
Moses says the team expected greatness. “I think everybody in that backfield should be over here,” Moses said. “We are just dangerous.
You cannot prepare for us. If you want to stop Timmy, how are you going to stop me? If you’re going to stop me, how are you going to stop (Love). It all goes i.
