'Yesterday, I went and got a health check,' he told his co-hosts on Fox FM's Fifi, Fev and Nick breakfast show.

'Two mates have had heart attacks and I've had two that have died from them,' he said matter-of-factly. 'They were my age and out of nowhere..

'I went to go do the 1,000 steps the other day, and I literally couldn't breathe. [My heart rate] was like 63.

' Brendan said his wife Alex expressed her concerns that the fluctuations meant there was 'no oxygen getting to [his] heart' when he was exercising, prompting him to get a full health screening. 'We both thought I was fit,' he joked of the low heart rate during his run. 'And then when I got home and I was on my recliner, I checked and it was 120 just sitting there.

She said don't rely on the apps. They're pretty good but not perfect.' Brendan went on to stress the importance of men over the age of 40 getting health checks and told how he had been concerned after getting chest pains.

'I think think it's really important people go and get health checks, but especially males over 40. Because men don't worry about health,' he added.
