The Northeastern region of the United States is proving a happy hunting ground for low-cost carrier Breeze Airways, with more expansion plans announced on Wednesday. The carrier is opening operations in New Haven in December, its second city in Connecticut, the eighth it serves in New England and Breeze's 64th destination. Another city in the Breeze network Located on the northern shore of Long Island Sound, New Haven will have ten nonstop destinations operating from Tweed New Haven Airport (HVN), including six to the warmer climes of Florida, just in time for the end-of-year holiday break.



Breeze Airways (Breeze) is also expanding its base of operations at Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Hartford to include Tweed New Haven while continuing to grow services from BDL. The flights from Tweed New Haven will start on December 10 to Fort Myers, on the 11th to Orlando and West Palm Beach and to Vero Beach on December 13. An additional six destinations from HVN will commence in February, including nonstop flights to Charleston, Jacksonville, Norfolk, Raleigh-Durham, Richmond and Sarasota-Bradenton.

Given its high population density and limited nonstop travel options, the Northeast has been on Breeze's radar since it commenced operations in May 2021. Lukas Johnson, Breeze Airways Chief Commercial Officer, said the airline's unique model of air service perfectly suits the region and has been a game-changer for the Northeast area, adding Breeze is: "Giving residents affordable flights from convenient airports such as Hartford, Westchester County, Providence, Stewart-Newburgh, and now, New Haven, just to name a few. I know that as more people experience our one-of-a-kind service and product, they will see what all the hype is about and why Breeze has grown so quickly in such a short period of time.

" Simple Flying's US Lead, Jonathan Hendry, caught up with the legendary airline founder to discuss three years of Breeze Airways and what's next. A strategic region for Breeze The announcement shows that when all services are operational, Fort Meyers, Orlando and West Palm Beach will have five flights weekly. Services to the other three destinations in Florida, Vero Beach, Jacksonville and Sarasota-Bradenton, will operate twice weekly, while there will be four times weekly flights to Charleston in South Carolina.

There will be twice-weekly nonstop services from HVN to Norfolk and Richmond in Virginia and Raleigh-Durham in North Carolina. Breeze is also opening a route to New Orleans on Thursday and Sunday, with a one-stop/no change of plane BreezeThru service starting February 6, 2025. All the new services are open for booking on the Breeze website or app through May 12, 2025.

The BreezeThru service started in 2022. Bradley International Airport remains an important base in Connecticut for Breeze, with more services to be added in the coming months, including international flights . The airline said it is in the final stages of securing the necessary certification to begin flying internationally, and it intends to start selling service to international destinations before the end of the year.

Hartford was among the 16 initial destinations served by Breeze when it launched in 2021, and today, the airline is the largest carrier in terms of destinations served at Bradley International, with flights to 24 cities across the US. Breeze now operates a mix of more than 170 year-round and seasonal nonstop routes between 64 cities in 30 states with a fleet of Airbus A220-300 and Embraer 190/195 single-aisle aircraft..
