March 7, 1973 - July 7, 2024 NORFOLK — Brandy M. Thuernagle, 51 of Norfolk, formerly of Grand Island, passed away unexpectedly July 7, 2024. Celebration of Life Service will be at 11 a.
m. Wednesday, July 17, 2024, on the Hanssen family farm, 3715 S. Blaine, in Grand Island.
Daniel Naranjo will officiate. A memorial fund will be established in Brandy's name to assist others with addictions. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Brandy was born on March 7, 1973, in Grand Island, the daughter of Deb Thuernagle Novacek. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High and went on to earn her Bachelor's degree in Human Resources. Brandy was athletic, playing softball most of her life including coed softball teams.
She also enjoyed volleyball and basketball while in high school. Brandy suffered with addiction — alcoholism, consuming most of her life. Her family would like to thank, and are eternally grateful for her AA friends/ family who supported her through her years of addiction.
There were many who tried to helped her find sobriety. More than all the pain and suffering she endured, Brandy was the most loving, caring, compassionate person. This was evident in the care she gave her patients as a CNA/Med Aid.
Brandy has finally found peace from the demons that haunted her most of her life. Rest in peace beautiful Brandy. Brandy's unwavering love for her daughter went beyond that love for others.
Her daughter McKenna was everything to her. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, McKenna Thuernagle (Cade); her mom, Deb Thuernagle Novacek; two sisters, Tammie (Hector) Centeno, and Jamie (Ken Mond) Thuernagle; two nieces, Taylor and Jaiden Centeno; an aunt, Dara Placke; three uncles, Steve (Lynn) Hanssen, John (Axel) Hanssen, and Brad (Shari) Hanssen; and several cousins and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her stepfather, Jim Novacek; her grandparents, John and Sharon Hanssen; an uncle, Arnie Placke; and a cousin, Kyle Hanssen.
