It was a day of double celebration for the Abusin's Muay Thai gym as two of its most talked about up-and-coming fighters secured landmark victories in Widnes to head into 2025 on a high. Over the last few years, former World Kickboxing Association British Champion Alex Abusin has been quietly building a talented stable of fighters in his BD3 gym, which is based at Kyme Mill on Johnson Street. Owais Khan is one of those, and he became the English 73kg Muay Thai champion at the end of April.

It partly made amends for some rotten luck for another Abusin's ace, Sohail Khan, a few weeks earlier. He had had one hand on the English 64kg belt before a freak shoulder injury forced him to be withdrawn from his own title bout. But in Widnes, it was the turn of two more top talents from the gym, with Abusin enjoying another evening of success as Mohammed Usaama and Adam Hussain secured big wins on the Fighting Machines promotion.

It was an all-action affair, with the Bradford fighter having to lean heavily on his rangy boxing skills. However, in the third round he got the job done in spectacular fashion. Usaama was able to drop his opponent heavily before landing a highlight-reel head-kick, which was then backed up by a flurry of devastating p.
