TWIN FALLS — A fundraising giveaway five years in the making is about to come to fruition. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Magic Valley have been selling raffle tickets since July for the chance to win a brand new home on the east side of Twin Falls. Proceeds from ticket sales will help bolster the club’s budget.

The idea for a dream home giveaway began about five years ago, Stephanie Hudson, director of advancement for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Magic Valley, said, but it was derailed by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Discussions about making the raffle a reality resumed in earnest about two years ago. “In the last five years, we have expanded from three locations to 10, and our budget has probably tripled,” she said.

“We know we need additional resources to serve kids well, and that was the catalyst for launching another fundraiser.” Hudson Hudson said club leaders felt that there was an opportunity to engage people who are supportive of the work the club does, but don’t always have the opportunity to give cash donations. “We felt like this was a great avenue to engage partners in the subcontractor space and the construction space, allowing them to contribute in a way that works for them,” she said.

Setting up the raffle was more complex than expected, especially with legal regulations. “We started working with an attorney in the Boise area to help us understand the rules and regulations,” she said. “It turned out to be quite a learning curve for us.

” Once the legal issues were ironed out, the club secured a lot in the Eastern Sun Subdivision, then partnered with Wolverton Homes, a Twin Falls-based homebuilder, and identified subcontractors. “It's really been incredible. The majority of people have donated their time, labor and materials and it's given people an opportunity to engage with the club who may have not had that opportunity before,” Hudson said.

Magic Valley residents can win a new home as part of the Boys & Girls Club of the Magic Valley's dream home giveaway. Located on the east side of Twin Falls, the residence features a custom-designed kitchen. The nearly 2,000-square-foot home, which is now complete, is valued at more than $500,000 and features a luxurious master suite, a spacious great room with a custom-designed kitchen, versatile living spaces, a bonus room and a two-car side-entry garage.

“The home itself is completed and the landscaping is being finished up,” Hudson said. Hudson is optimistic that the dream home giveaway will become a regular fundraising opportunity for the clubs, which served 4,103 children and 68,778 meals in 2023, according to data from the organization. While ticket sales are important, she said, this first year is largely about building awareness for future raffles.

“The measure of success isn’t solely based on the numbers,” she said. “It’s about laying the groundwork for future projects.” A small house or room can easily become cramped and cluttered, but luckily, there are plenty of tricks to making your space feel more open.
