A Russian general who was in charge of the army’s nuclear, chemical and biological defense forces was killed by a bomb hidden inside an electric scooter. Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov and his assistant were killed when a bomb placed in an e-scooter exploded outside the entrance of a residential building in Moscow on Tuesday morning. The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case in connection with the assassination of the Army General and his aide.

Russian state-owned news agency and broadcast service Sputnik confirmed the incident in a report. It also stated that the incident took place in an apartment building which is just 4 miles (7 kilometers) away from Kremlin. Emergency response services told Russian state news agency TASS that prima facie it seems like that the explosive device had been remotely detonated and the attack was carried out in a planned and targeted manner.



The TASS report also mentions that the power of the explosion was equal to around 300 grams of TNT. Several key officials from the Russian Interior Ministry’s Moscow department are present alongside investigators, medical personnel, and emergency services at the site of the incident. Ukraine had sanctioned the Lieutenant General just a day ago It is important to mention here that just a day before his demise, Igor Kirillov had been charged in absentia for ordering the use of chemical weapons against the Kyiv forces by Ukrainian prosecutors.
