The screening was attended by the whole team, including Boman Irani, his wife Zenobia, actors Avinash Tiwary and Shreya Chaudhry, along with writer Alexander Dinelaris and producers Danesh Irani and Ankita Batra.

Following the screening, the 3 Idiots star proudly flaunted his first award as a director and called it a “dream come true” moment. He also thanked his team for their hard work and commitment to bringing the film to life. Sharing the happy news on Instagram, the actor wrote, “Winning at the Chicago South Asian Film Festival for The Mehta Boys feels like a dream come true.

Having my family and the cast here made it a true celebration. To everyone who poured their heart and soul into this film but couldn’t be here with us tonight—this one’s for you. Your hard work and passion made this possible, and I am so grateful.

Cheers to the entire team.” A post shared by Boman Irani (@boman_irani) According to Bollywood Hungama, before the screening of The Mehta Boys, Boman Irani said, “This film started many years ago, actually, with a friend, producer and director named Sujoy Ghosh, who wanted to cast me in a film. He came over to my house while I was running a fever and pitched me a few ideas.

Among them was this one-liner, The Mehta Boys. I said I wanted to do that one because I wanted to direct it. He said, ‘You’ve got the story,’ and I’ll always be grateful to him for being so generous.

I began writing the film in my own silly way, just to wake my wife, Zenobia, in the middle of the night. I’d read the scenes to her and she would groggily say, ‘It’s very nice,’ before going back to sleep. In the morning, I would tear off the page and realize that a lot of work needed to be done.

” The actor further mentioned that it took them 55 days to complete the film and revealed that he never thought about becoming an actor or a filmmaker. He credited his mother for what he’s today, as she encouraged him to watch movies every day. Directed by Boman Irani, The Mehta Boys, featuring Avinash Tiwary and Shreya Chaudhary, is scheduled to release on Prime Video soon.
