Bolton will fall silent on Sunday to remember the great sacrifice made for today's freedom. Remembrance services will be taking place across the borough. Civic leaders will gather in Victoria Square on Sunday at 10.

55am for the traditional act of Remembrance led by the Vicar of Bolton, Revd Hannah Lane. The Hoover Band will play, as will the Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Band. Among those laying wreaths include the Mayor of Bolton, Andy Morgan, and the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham.



Four schools representing the town will be there as well, Markland Hill Primary, Beaumont Primary, Rumworth Special and Ladybridge High. The service is expected to end at around 12.15-12.

30pm. There will also be an Armistice Day service on Monday, November 11 at 11am on Victoria Square. Again led by the Vicar of Bolton, it will last for 15 minutes.

Cllr Morgan said: "As Mayor of Bolton and an army veteran myself, I know it would really be appreciated by those that have served, and continue to service, and their families, if as many of the public turnout and attend one of the Remembrance Services planned across the borough to honour those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, their lives for our freedom. "Together, we can ensure that their courage and commitment is never forgotten."
