The upcoming 2025 BMW X3 will feature a refreshed design and advanced technology, but it appears the high-performance X3M model will not be included. BMW is reportedly shifting its focus to an electric performance version of the iX3. New Delhi: BMW is set to release a redesigned X3 for 2025, featuring a modern look and a high-tech interior.

The new model will be available later this year with two updated engine options. However, it seems that the high-performance X3M model, popular in previous generations, will not be part of the new lineup. According to BMWBlog, BMW will not offer an M version of the new X3.

The performance-specific variant will be the X3 M50 which includes an upgraded version of BMW’s turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine. Instead of continuing the X3M, BMW is reportedly focusing on a performance version of its upcoming iX3 electric crossover.

This shift aligns with earlier reports from 2022 suggesting that the high-performance SUV market is moving towards electric-only models. The anticipated iX3M will utilize BMW’s Neue Klasse architecture for SUVs, which is designed to deliver substantial power. While exact specifications are not confirmed, the platform is said to support outputs of up to 1322.

6 BHP, though the performance SUV is expected to have at least 591.7 BHP. The potential discontinuation of the X3M marks a significant change.

The current X3M model is known for its turbocharged inline-six engine, which produces 466.5 BHP and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.9 seconds.

With other high-performance compact luxury SUVs like the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio being phased out and the Porsche Macan transitioning to electric, this segment is becoming less populated. BMW has not officially confirmed these reports. While there remains a possibility that the X3M could continue, the brand’s shift towards electrification suggests it is unlikely that a new gas-powered X3M will be introduced soon.
