Alex James has spilled the beans on his relationship with his Blur bandmates, revealing that they don't keep in touch unless they're working. The 55-year-old rock star and cheesemaker extraordinaire, who's got a thriving farm life with his wife Claire, likens his dynamic with Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, and Dave Rowntree to marriage it's all about having your own thing going on to keep the group magic alive. Chatting to HELLO! magazine, he dished out: "It's like a marriage, and all marriages need some kind of success outside of the relationship in order to thrive.

" He added: "I literally don't hear from them because we're all so consumed by our own lives, and that's absolutely fine." Despite the time apart, when Blur came back together for their first gigs in eight years and dropped their ninth studio album 'The Ballad of Darren', Alex said it was as if nothing had changed. Praising their live performances as "the best we've ever done", he revealed: "From the first rehearsals we clicked, musically, straight away.



" He reflected on the unique bond they share, saying: "It's such a precious thing, a group of people playing music together since they were kids." And the 'Beetlebum' rocker appreciates how infrequent Blur's reunions are, which keeps things fresh: "Since Claire and I got married, Blur have probably done three or four dozen shows together, so it's never become a point when it's a drudge. It's a wonderful feeling, like riding a bike downhill.
