Zomato’s quick commerce arm Blinkit shared a banter with its parent compnay on social media platform X (earlier Twitter) as the country celebrated Raksha Bandhan . It started when the food delivery app, which acquired Blinkit two years ago, referred to the company as its adopted sister and greeted it with Rakhi wishes. Meanwhile, the 10-minute delivery app took a jibe at Zomato while replying to the post on X.

The quick commerce firm was backed by SoftBank, Tiger Global and Sequoia Capital India (now Peak XV Partners). The food delivery platform surpassed its market expectations as the company recently reported a net profit of Rs 253 crore for the quarter ending June 30. Zomato's quick commerce arm, Blinkit, experienced played a major role as it saw a revenue growth of 145% year-on-year, reaching Rs 942 crore.

Blinkit offered international services on Rakhi On Rakhi, Blinkit launched an international order service to enable Indians living abroad to send Rakhis and gifts to their loved ones in India. The service was available in select countries, including the US, Germany, Netherlands, Japan, France, and Canada. In this service, Blinkit offered a curated selection of Raksha Bandhan essentials, such as rakhis, sweets, snacks, and other festive items.

This expansion aligns with Blinkit's recent efforts to diversify its product offerings, which now include sports equipment, gaming consoles, electronics, beauty and makeup, and toys and games. In an X post shared on August 18, Albinder Dhindsa , founder and CEO of Blinkit said: “We have switched on international orders on Blinkit till August 19. Folks living abroad can now place orders on Blinkit to send Rakhis and gifts to their siblings in India and we will deliver in 10 minutes.
