Pune: Abandoning the possibility of returning to BJP , senior politician Eknath Khadse has started campaigning for NCP (SCP) in North Maharashtra , including for his daughter Rohini Khadse in her assembly constituency in Jalgaon district. Rohini is the head of women's wing of NCP (SCP). Once a key member of BJP, Khadse joined undivided NCP in 2020 after the assembly polls.
Earlier this year, before the Lok Sabha polls, Khadse resigned from Sharad Pawar's party, announcing that he would join BJP. He campaigned for his daughter-in-law, Raksha Khadse, who was BJP's candidate for Raver constituency. However, due to opposition from some senior members of state BJP, his joining was postponed.
He finally announced that he would not join BJP. Speaking to TOI, Khadse said, "The chapter of returning to BJP is now over. I have started campaigning for Sharad Pawar's party.
I will mostly focus on Jalgaon, Buldhana, and other important states of North Maharashtra. Due to my health condition, I will not travel much, but once the candidates are declared, I will get into campaign mode in full swing." Khadse's daughter-in-law Raksha is in BJP, for whom he campaigned.
After winning the Lok Sabha seat, she has been elevated as minister of state at the Centre. His daughter Rohini, however, is in NCP (SCP), and now in the assembly. The senior politician has been campaigning for her in Muktainagar constituency of Jalgaon.
