As Jamaicans celebrated National Heroes Day on Monday, October 21, one modern-day hero – 2007 Digicel Rising Star winner, singer-songwriter, and Johnnie Walker brand ambassador Romain Virgo – continues to make his mark in reggae music. Known for his soulful sound and profound contributions to the genre for more than a decade, he continues to carry the torch for Jamaican culture on the global stage. This year, his album, The Gentle Man , has made the list for Grammy consideration, a prestigious recognition adding to his successful The Gentle Man tour and the birth of his first son in October.

“It really means a lot for The Gentle Man to be among the 75 albums up for Grammy consideration. I’ve been in the industry for over a decade, trying to represent the essence of reggae music and what it should really feel like. If we receive this Grammy nomination, it would be proof to myself and my team that all the hard work we put in over the years was truly worth it.
