There are many times when you don’t hear the actor's real voice in a movie but you don’t realise it because it is dubbed by a professional voiceover artist. Earlier people were not aware of the dubbing process until actors’ started giving interviews and spilled the beans about it. Actors like Rani Mukerji, Bipasha Basu, Ameesha Patel, Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone and Nargis Fakhri were all dubbed over by a professional voice artist named Mona Ghosh.

In her recent interview, the voiceover artist shared how actors used to react to her dubbing them. Talking to the YouTube channel The Motor Mouth, Mona shared that she dubbed for Bipasha in films like Raaz, Jism, Footpath, Gunaah among a few others. Mona said, “Varying reactions.

Some said I don’t know how you do this, someone said I will kill you if you dub for me again.” When asked who said the latter, Mona shared that it was Bipasha. She added, “But she doesn’t realise that it’s not my decision.

I don’t go asking ‘can I dub for Bipasha?’ If someone comes to me, it’s my profession, why will I say no?” A post shared by The Motor Mouth Show (@themotormouthshow) She further revealed that even Rani Mukerji didn’t like the experience of getting her voice dubbed in Ghulam. She said “Rani has a very different voice, which is why she hates it, in every interview she says ‘I hate it’. I totally understand because I think we are so used to our own voice that if someone else starts talking with our face on top, we will feel it is odd.

We will feel like who is this? So it’s understandable.” Rani has previously expressed that she did not like Aamir Khan and director Vikram Bhatt’s decision to get her voice dubbed for Ghulam. Karan Johar, who had also cast her in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, retained her own voice.

Mona Ghosh also revealed that some actresses were really appreciative of her work, which included Nargis Fakhri. Nargis’ voice was dubbed by Mona in Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar. “She came and hugged me and she was like ‘oh my god, it’s fantastic what you have done,’” she recalled.

A post shared by The Motor Mouth Show (@themotormouthshow) Mona also explained why she would be called over to dub for female actors. She shared, “There was a time when a lot of models were entering the industry as actresses. They didn’t necessarily have the time to prep or train, and through the movies, they were getting trained on the job.

So they needed people to do the voice, the performance part of it, so it had conviction, had the necessary drama.” READ MORE: Zoya Akhtar Says An Uncle Yelled At Her After Watching Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara: 'Sir, This Movie Isn't For You'.
