Monday, November 25, 2024 THSC and Visa have launched a transformative skilling project in Bharatpur, aiming to upskill 20,000 professionals in India’s tourism and hospitality sector. Jayant Chaudhary, Union Minister of State (I/C) for the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, officially launched the prestigious Visa-THSC Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Project in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, on November 19, 2024. The Minister played a pivotal role in facilitating the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between THSC and Visa, endorsing this groundbreaking initiative aimed at certifying, upskilling, and formally recognizing the skills of over 20,000 professionals in India’s tourism and hospitality industries over the next three years.
In its first year, the program aspires to certify approximately 7,000 individuals nationwide, focusing on roles such as tour guides, customer service executives, food servers, walk tour facilitators, and paragliding ground crew chiefs. Bharatpur’s Keoladeo National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and renowned tourist destination, provides an exemplary backdrop for this initiative. Local participants will gain formal qualifications, equipping them to serve as ambassadors for India’s rich cultural and natural heritage.
