Natasha Poonawalla's oscillation between theatrical and avant-garde fashion is a balancing act. Her latest look lies somewhere on the precipice, as she arrived for the Louis Vuitton show in Paris with what some what describe as a doll house. For the fashion enthusiasts, you already know the rare trunk bag is a sliver of the Maison’s valuable history.

Envisioned by Nicolas Ghesquière as a part of SS 2023, the trunk is a miniature of the Maison D’Asnières, the brand’s far from conventional headquarters nestled in the outskirts of bustling Paris. The landmark art nouveau site brings together the brand’s trunk-making ateliers interspersed with a gallery space, making it at once an emblem of history, impeccable craftsmanship and its focus on sustained collective creativity. As for the actual dress, Natasha Poonawll went with the LV trunk pleat dress (Look 15) from the fall 2024 ready-to-wear collection tailored in glossy silk satin with a form-fitting top and a four-pleat skirt enhanced with sculptural volume.

A summation of Paris Fashion Week, the show was held at the iconic Cour Carrée du Louvre and had Ghesquière alluding to the Renaissance through puffed sleeves, lacey pedal-pushers and densely rich colours that borrowed from medieval art. The house’s mainstay represented through its monogram and roots in travel found justice through Poonawalla’s look which straddled her usual flair for avant-garde dressing that often traverses through fashion’s rare hist.
