When it comes to sex, Beyonce has sung about everything from riding on surfboards to rockets shooting off and even getting ‘Monica Lewinski’d’. However, it’s her 2009 song Ego that has caused a stir. Ego featured on Beyonce’s third album I Am.

.. Sasha Fierce , which was released 15 years ago, but the singer’s mother Tina Knowles has apparently only just realised exactly what the lyrics to the racy track are about.

Hint: it’s not actually about the size of a man’s ego...

Over the weekend, Ms Tina shared an Instagram video of the hosts from podcast Can I Vibe With Y’all dancing as they played Ego. She wrote in the caption: ‘Wow, !!!!!!! I just realized that she wasn’t talking about that ego!!!!!! Ohhhhhh Myyyyy!!!!!!! I’m serious I really didn’t Know til now!!!!! That’s crazy! Nooo! Really? Maybe not ! I don’t know! What y’all think?’ It’s a wonder how Tina, 70, managed to miss the double-entendre in the song when lyrics include: ‘I’d rather you open up my body, and show me secrets you didn’t know was inside,’ and ‘It’s too big, It’s too wide, It’s too strong, It won’t fit, It’s too much, It’s too tough, He talk like this ’cause he can back it up.’ Not to forget: ‘He got a big ego, Such a huge ego.

’ Queen Bey, who is married to Jay Z , was pretty much spelling it out for us and fans are highly amused that Tina was today years old when she learned the song’s real meaning. Reacting to her confession, Instagram user @_tall_bowys_kitchen_ commented: ‘Tina girllll Nowwwww What other Ego could she had been talking about ?!?!’ @coopcancook joked: ‘Mama T, I think Blue is about to call you.’ Referring to Beyonce’s raunchy lyrics on Partition, @shawn_i_am joined in: ‘Wait until she realize why they didn’t make it into the club,’ as did @Ci_sassy who quipped: ‘Wait till she find out what surfboard really mean.

’ @jaydensalaams predicted: ‘I know she about to send Beyoncé a long ass paragraph.’ Demanding to know how the singer, 42, reacted to her mum’s hilarious admission, Beyonce fan account @beyslayy asked: ‘Mama T ask her and let us know how the conversation went.’ Beyonce hasn’t shied away from singing about sex throughout her career, with some of her steamiest songs including Blow (guesses for what that’s about), Partition, Speechless, Rocket, Virgo’s Groove and Drunk In Love.

Perhaps the reason Tina was in the dark about the real meaning of Beyonce’s lyrics was because the icon previously admitted she was too embarrassed to play her sexier songs for her mum. Speaking about Partition in 2014, the Grammy-winner said in a YouTube series: ‘It takes me back to being in my car as a teenager. It takes me back to when me and my husband first meet, and he tries to scoop me and he thinks I’m the hottest thing in the world.

‘I kinda had this whole fantasy of being in the car, and this whole movie played in my head. I didn’t have a pen and paper. I got to the mic, I’m like, “Oh, press Record.

” [singing] Driver roll up the partition please, I don’t need you seeing ‘Yoncé on her knees”.’ She added: ‘I was so embarrassed after I recorded the song because I’m just talking s**t. I’m like, “I can’t play this for my husband!” I still haven’t played it for my mum.

She’s going to be very mad at me.’ Got a story? If you’ve got a celebrity story, video or pictures get in touch with the Metro.co.
