Honorable Mention: Boca Grande Burritos and Groucho’s I think it’s safe to say Blue Marlin is a Columbia institution.

With a motto like “low-country inspired, Columbia made,” their status as the best seafood restaurant makes sense. You may want to make a reservation to try their Charleston crab cakes, award-winning shrimp and grits and “blackout cake” — a gooey chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. Take a pre-dinner walk around the Vista to get extra hungry for all this menu has in store.

Honorable Mention: Bonefish Grill, Ocean View, Pearlz and Smoked Looking at the thoughtfulness of their menu, it follows that the owners and managers behind Halls Chophouse of Columbia put a lot of intention into their service. In fact, the dish’s official title is “Award Winning Blue Marlin Shrimp & Grits,” featuring the classic shrimp, andouille sausage and tasso gravy. Honorable Mention: Lizard’s Thicket and Roy’s Grille The Southern brunch spread at Kiki's Chicken and Waffles in Columbia, SC. Mr.

Friendly’s self-describes as a “new Southern cafe.” Whatever that means, exactly, they must be doing it right to have won Best Southern Restaurant this year. While anyone will feel at home grabbing lunch or dinner in the relaxed ambiance of the Five Points culinary institution, the food itself is far from casual.

Even their lighter fare of “maters & melons” features South Carolina heirloom tomatoes and watermelons elevated with EVOO, pesto and a balsamic reduction. Honorable Mention: Little Pigs and Lizard’s Thicket It may not be surprising to see Halls Chophouse win Best Steak, but that doesn’t make the award any less deserved. The Hoot is led by veterans of Columbia's food and dining scene, including a former part-owner of The Whig, so it's no surprise locals enjoy the spot for a casual night out. The restaurant is entirely meat-free, but the burgers can hold their own with beyond patties tastily grilled and topped with fresh veggies and a special Hoot sauce.

It's worth a stop even for meat lovers! Honorable Mention: Good Life Cafe, A Peace of Soul Lula Drake Wine Parlour prides itself on serving unique wines from little-known vineyards across the world — even earning the restaurant Columbia's first-ever James Beard Award for its outstanding wine. Honorable Mention: Il Giorgione, Di Vino Rosso A good wing spot is crucial in a city with plenty of tailgating opportunities, and West Columbia's D's Wings provides a great option.
