Bentley has teased the new facelifted Flying Spur which is the flagship four dour sedan for the brand. It lets go of the W12 and introduces a new hybrid twin turbocharged V8 engine. The Flying Spur is the flagship four dour sedan for the British luxury car manufacturer and Bentley has teased a facelift version which will finally say goodbye to the legendary twin turbocharged W12 engine.

There are going to be minor updates to the vehicle as well. The W12 engine was one of the wild creations of Ferdinand Piëch and adorned many luxury cars over the years. The most prominent was the Bentley’s and now they are going to let go of the W12 and replace with hybrid power.



It will now get a hybrid twin turbo-charged V8 engine which we have seen in the recently facelifted Bentley Continental GT and other VW-Audi group products as well. The 4.0L twin-turbocharged engine itself produces 584 bhp.

The additional oomph comes from the 187 bhp electric motor to have a combined output of 771 bhp and 1000 Nm of torque. Power goes to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. There is a 25.

9 kWh lithium ion battery pack on-board which gives it an estimated range of 82 kms and it can drive up to speeds of 130 kmph on electric power alone. This same drivetrain is also available in other VW-Audi group cars including the upcoming Lamborghini Urus SE and the Porsche Panamera Turbo SE Hybrid. Bentley has not revealed any more details about the new Flying Spur but we expect it to get minor tweaks to the exterior and the interior as well with the latest and greatest in terms of tech and features from the VW-Audi group cars.

Its sad to see the final W12 engines go, but this hybrid powertrain means that the cars will be more efficient and keep the emission standard overlords happy with less CO2 produced from the tailpipes.
